In nature, phosphate concentrations in water rarely exceed 1 mg/L. However, in aquariums, higher levels are common due to factors such as overstocking, excess feeding, and the presence of algae.

Elevated phosphate (PO4) levels above 1 mg/L, especially when combined with nitrate (NO3) levels above 20 mg/L, create ideal conditions for algae growth and contribute to the presence of toxins and pollutants harmful to fish and filtration systems.

For optimal aquarium health, phosphate levels should remain below 1 mg/L in freshwater systems and below 0.1 mg/L in marine aquariums. Achieving and maintaining these values requires consistent maintenance, including partial water changes, substrate siphoning, and regular filter cleaning to remove clogged or ineffective media.

Phosphator is a filter media designed to remove phosphates and, once saturated, can also absorb silicates. It contains a low level of aluminum and helps eliminate unpleasant odors caused by poor maintenance or overfeeding.

DIRECTIONS: 350 g removes 5 ppm of phosphates in 200 liters of treated water. Replace the product once a month and/or whenever phosphate levels begin to rise.
